PART 1 – Research Article Review

(10 marks) Using the virtual Library Guide under Assignments Section in the class website, identify a recent research article in your eld of interest (for example, Finance, Health, Psychology) that includes a section with statistical analysis. The article must have been published by at least one University of Toronto author within the past four years (that is, 2015 to present). Note, STA1002 students are allowed to write about their current research (or proposal).

Based on your article of choice, answer the following.

  1. What was your selected eld of interest?

  1. Write a proper reference for the article, including the author(s), title, journal, year of publication, volume and page indices. Provide a link to the article or a soft copy of the article.

  1. Which UofT department was the UofT author a liated with?

  1. Which statistical software was used for the data analysis?

  1. Was the data derived from an observational study or experiment?

  1. Did the article present summary statistics? Name the summary statistics presented.

  1. Did the article present tables and/or plots? Explain. How many plots were there? How many tables were there?

  1. Did the article present test statistics, their distributions under H0, p-values and/or con dence inter-vals? Explain.

  1. To how many decimal places were values reported? Explain.

  1. Identify at least one statistical method used to analyze the data.

This can be done by stating the title and year of publication, and providing a link to the text or providing the article itself. This forum will be used by the grader (and can be used by student) to identify the rst person or persons with the same article.
